Inspired by a recent visit to The Galápagos Islands in 2019, I present to you these handmade stained glass sea turtles. These islands are famously known for their fearless wildlife and as a source of inspiration for Darwin’s theory of evolution.
Each turtle made is in a variety of textured glass and colors. Some pieces are opaque, and some are transparent. Measures 4″H x 3.5″W. I enjoy mixing up the colors, they bring the love of sea life thru them. This turtle is slightly different on both sides. The body is a bright purple with streaks, bubbles and is iridescent on one side. Paired with clear bubble glass for the head and legs that refract the light.
Did you know… “The sex of sea turtles, like many other turtles, is determined by the temperature in the nest. Cooler incubation temperatures produce male hatchlings and warmer incubation temperatures produce female hatchlings. Temperatures that fluctuate between the two extremes will produce a mix of male and female hatchlings.”
As I gaze upon these turtles hanging in my window, I am reminded of happy memories. I hope they bring a ray of sunshine and happiness on their little turtle backs to your home. A perfect gift for the turtle lover in your life.
